The word Ekadashi has been derived from the Sanskrit term Ēkādaśī which means eleven. Thus, every 11th day of the lunar cycle is called Ēkādaśī.
This is the most important day, according to Vedic scripture, that a partial fast is observed.
Ekadashi is a simple, natural, rhythmic, achievable and stress free way to fast intermittently! Simply fast with light foods, or choose fruits, or juice, or milk or only water. The key here is rhythm.
Where nature has three basic acts; growth, sustaining and dissolving, the whole phenomena of Ēkādaśī is based on sustainability - your longevity.
We fast in order to minimize the demands of the body and to direct our time and energy into being as open as possible to the power of rejuvenation that is naturally arising on this specific day.
